Welcome to the newest member of JAW, Josh. Josh has recently joined us and is taking up the role of Junior Sustainability Consultant.
We thought you’d like to get to know him a little better, so we asked him some questions:
JAW: Hi Josh, welcome to JAW! So let’s get started, can you tell us a bit about yourself, where you’re from, what you studied, your interests?
Josh: Hi JAW, I grew up in the heart of the countryside and I’ve lived in London for five years now, recently graduating from UCL with a MSci in Natural Sciences. I studied many areas relating to the climate and achieving a sustainable future. In my spare time, I love doing water sports, running and travelling.
JAW: So what attracted you to a role in sustainability at JAW?
Josh: After learning about climate change, it was impossible to not feel moved to make a difference. Working in sustainability is a chance to help society live in harmony with our planet, not just tomorrow, or for the next week, but for generations to come. The whole team here are so friendly and welcoming, and they’re also very hard working and driven. This is a place to flourish and really enjoy my work.
JAW: What have you been up to so far, and what have you enjoyed most?
Josh: There’s a lot of new information to take on board. I’ve been getting to grips with BREEAM assessments and SAP calculations and learning about the construction industry. I’ve been to a couple of client meetings – which are great because I’ve been able to experience the importance of JAW’s role within the design team and witness the collaboration required to achieve a sustainable building.
JAW: What are you most looking forward to about your future with JAW?
Josh: The chance to meaningfully impact the creation of buildings that’ll stand for years to come and be used by countless people in their daily lives, knowing that I’ve played a part in making those buildings more sustainable.
