Alice Frais

Graduate Sustainability Consultant

Alice joined JAW in February 2026, after completing an integrated masters degree in Natural Sciences at the University of Leeds. She specialised in Biology with Environmental Sciences, following an ecology and conservation pathway, which sparked her interest in sustainability and deepened her understanding of environmental and ecological issues. Her master’s thesis examined the impacts of compostable and biodegradable plastics compared with conventional plastics on the behaviour and physiology of a freshwater shrimp species. Combining laboratory and field data collection with experimental analysis, this research project strengthened her interest in anthropogenic environmental impacts and reinforced her commitment to finding practical solutions to reduce them.

After graduating, Alice started volunteering with an environmental education charity. She worked with schools and children of all ages to help educate on environmental issues and developed marketing materials to promote engagement with green careers. This experience confirmed her desire to pursue a career focused on sustainability, while her enthusiasm for stakeholder engagement and advisory work drew her towards consultancy. The built environment, with its significant environmental footprint and thus potential for meaningful change, became a natural area of focus. She is passionate about supporting projects by helping inform sustainable decisions which drive environmental resilience.
