Georgie Thomas
Sustainability Intern
After graduating with a first-class degree in BSc Geography from the University of Bristol, Georgie joined JAW in May 2024. Her time as an undergraduate consolidated Georgie’s longstanding enthusiasm for sustainability, particularly regarding the built environment. While at Bristol, Georgie conducted field research on Barcelona’s Superblocks, analysing the built environment’s potential for addressing socio-environmental issues. This encouraged her to specialise in holistic, inclusive sustainable construction practice.
As a result, Georgie pursued grassroots and practical insight through sustainability and biodiversity initiatives in Thailand and Costa Rica. Later, attending the UN ESCAP’s Fourth Session of the Committee on Macroeconomic Policy, Poverty Reduction and Financing Development in Bangkok, Thailand to gather further technical knowledge for improved infrastructure and investment practice regarding the SDGs. This experience presented major implications for the private sector and built environment, and reinforced Georgie’s ambitions to enter the sustainable construction sector.
